EMBRACE WINTER ON IBIZA

AUTUMN AND WINTER ON IBIZA – THINGS TO DO

EMBRACE WINTER ON IBIZA

There’s something special about autumn and winter here on Ibiza.

Those specific seasons bring a certain magic to the air, on which is completely different to that of summer.

It’s quite special.

We know that come the end of September direct flights from the UK are limited to City Airport in London.

But if you’re travelling from anywhere else in the world (or don’t mind two flights), then you can easily visit us from a range of destinations.

EMBRACE WINTER ON IBIZA

You can still party outside of a typical summer season here too.

Whilst the main clubs may be closing (or closed), that doesn’t mean us locals hang up our dancing shoes until May.

Far from it.

There’s still plenty of fantastic, smaller parties that pop up across the island.

Whether you’re here to dance or relax, there’s definitely something to keep you fulfilled during your stay.

Here’s some of our favourite things to do over the cooler months on the white isle.

EMBRACE WINTER ON IBIZA

Explore

Ibiza is beautiful. There’s no doubt about that. Even when you fly over the pine-cladded mountains, surrounded by turquoise waters, you know you are looking at at a little slice of heaven.

Getting out and about is a must at this time of year.

From hiking in the hills overlooking sights such as Es Vedra and Es cap Bernat.

To venturing out to places such as Salinas salt-flats to watch the flamingos ‘doing their thing’.

Or even capturing those dramatic winter sunsets.

With sunny days and colder nights, it’s the perfect mix if you want to enjoy some rays. But still feel cosy in the evenings.

Hire a car or bike and get out and about.

You won’t regret it.

EMBRACE WINTER ON IBIZA

Shop

Yes you can shop anywhere, but Ibiza is home to some truly wonderful boutiques.

Unfortunately many of these close after the summer season ends, but you can still find some pretty fabulous spots to take advantage of.

If you’re into your high-street haunts then you’ll be able to find the likes of Zara, Mango, Bershka and many more.

Along with a selection of other great go-to retail therapy businesses, located in Vara de Rey.

Grab some beautiful cushions or candles from Zara Home, or maybe treat yourself to a new fragrance at Clapés.

Santa Gertrudis has some lovely shops too, if you’re around that part of the island.

Or, if you’re after some bargain hunting then San Jordi market is the place to be on a Saturday.

San Jordi market

Dance

You can dance the night away, 357 days a year here on Ibiza.

Whether it be in a bar, club or an outdoor event.

You’ll never be bored, so don’t let anyone tell you any different.

From nights in Dalt Vila at bars such as Lola’s and Paradise Lost, to daytime shindigs at Las Dalias.

There’s something for everyone, including families.

Some of the larger clubs also host special events over this time too.

From Chinois in Botafoch to Eden in San Antonio.

If you’re thinking about flying over for New Year, then Pacha, DC10 and some of the other famous venues re-open for the occasion.

You just need to keep an eye on all of their socials for updates.

Eat

If you’re a foodie then you are in the right place.

From Traditional Ibicenco cuisine to Spanish, Vietnamese, Italian, French, Greek, Caribbean and more.

Your options might be slightly reduced compared to the peak-season, but they are still in abundance.

Some of the best places to dine are towns such as Santa Eulalia, which is home to ‘restaurant street‘. A place that leaves you spoilt for choice, and your tastebuds tingling.

San Antonio is also a stellar choice.

With eateries such as Es Ventall, Es Nautic, Venezia, Golden Buddha (plus more), all providing many tasty offerings to keep you satisfied.

And that’s not all, as there are many more restaurants dotted across the island to tickle for your fancy.

From The Boathouse in Cala San Vicente, Amalur in Santa Gertrudis, Chimichurri in San José or Can Pilot in San Rafael.

Just to name a few.

Es Nautic

Create

Are you the creative type? If that’s a yes then you’ve struck gold here.

As Ibiza is known for its freedom to ‘look beyond’ the norm.

Whether you’re a musician, artist or designer, the island is a place you can be yourself, and it inspires you to develop your flair on a whole new level.

From pottery and ceramic classes to painting.

Ibiza-focused designs and silversmith courses to open mic nights.

You can even join in with the drumming at places such as Benirrás too.

A true chance to channel your inner-hippy.

Enjoy the Sea

Are you brave enough to dip in the (much cooler) Mediterranean sea?

Then why not, as it’s known to be extremely good for your health.

If you prefer to stay dry whilst still enjoying the beautiful blue, peaceful waters then you can still participate in a range of activities throughout the year.

From paddle boarding to kayaking, sailing and scuba diving.

Or maybe even book a private boat trip with your own captain included.

It’s a great way to experience the breathtaking coastline, and really feel in-tune with your surroundings.

ARC Ibiza

Sound healing, pilates, cacao ceremonies, ayahuasca, the list is endless.

From retreats to one-off special events.

This beautiful rock is the place to visit, if you want the ultimate in rest, relaxation, and rebirth.

With its stunning scenery and tranquil ambience, taking some well deserved ‘me time’ is vital.

And there’s no better place to participate in said-activities, than right here on Ibiza.

If you’re into a blend of fitness and yoga then Becky, owner of A Balanced You is available year-round.

She has a range of motivating indoor and outdoor PT and yoga group classes, plus 1-2-1 sessions available.

Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Stop Ignoring Social Media For Your Hospitality Business

Hospitality, social media and why it’s important

If you think social media isn’t that important for your hospitality business then think again.

Inactive social media accounts can sometimes lead to a loss on profits.

Unless your venue is fully booked (or at least thriving each day), then there really isn’t a good reason as to why you’re not utilising your online-accounts properly.

And even if you are busy, there’s no harm in going that extra mile is there?

Online Reviews and Why They’re Important

Imagine a potential customer searching online for a restaurant, bar or hotel. They come across your business, take a look at your photos and then head straight to your reviews.

What they read next could be the difference between gaining a new customer and losing them to a competitor.

Online reviews have become an important part of the hospitality industry, yet we’re still hearing business owners say they don’t respond to them, or even pay much attention to what their customers have to say.

Some believe that once a guest has left their establishment, their opinion no longer matters.

A number of years ago, we worked with someone who felt exactly this way. When discussing customer feedback, their response was:

“I just don’t care what anyone has to say, really. Their words are not important to me.”

They were new to the hospitality industry, so we tried to understand their point of view. However, as a business that has always placed great importance on good customer service, we found their way of thinking difficult to understand.

The reality is that your guests are the very people who keep your business running. Their experiences, opinions and feedback matter more than anything, and how you respond to them can have a lasting impact on your reputation.

So, why are online reviews so important, and what could you be missing out on by ignoring them?

reviews

SHOW THAT YOU CARE AND MEAN IT

The hospitality industry can be extremely lucrative, as we’re sure you all know. However, if you’re only in it for the money, as many are, then at least hire someone who can deal with the public on your behalf online. Otherwise, you risk losing business due to poor customer relations.

Responding to online reviews shows that you care. It demonstrates that you’ve taken a genuine interest in your customers’ feedback. It also gives you an opportunity to learn, improve and potentially benefit your business in the long run.

We advise our clients to welcome constructive criticism and always offer an apology, along with a solution, to those who haven’t been satisfied with their experience.

It’s also easy to take negative feedback personally, especially when you’re putting so much time and effort into your business.

But you shouldn’t.

Keep every response professional, even when you feel like defending yourself or biting back.

People could choose to eat and drink anywhere, but they chose to come to you.

That’s more money in your pocket. It’s their hard-earned cash that they have personally chosen to spend at your establishment.

The least you can do is respond to their feedback if they leave a review online.

Some people don’t like to bring a bad experience to anyone’s attention at the time, especially British people. It’s a ‘thing’!

This can be really frustrating for business owners, as they may not realise there was a problem until after the guest has left the restaurant and posted a review online.

Why didn’t they say something at the time, you ask? Well, because they didn’t.

And unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about that.

REMEMBER, DON’T TAKE THINGS PERSONALLY

You can, however, politely ask whether they raised the issue with a member of staff at the time.

Explain that, had they done so, you would have done your utmost to ensure the situation was resolved.

Tell them you’d love for them to return and give you another chance in the future. This can sometimes even encourage them to remove or update their negative review!

Ignoring them only reinforces their belief that they were right, while replying in anger demonstrates unprofessionalism.

Always remain polite.

Not only will this show potential future diners that you care, but responding to reviews can also contribute to your online visibility and local SEO.

Lockside Camden – Tex Mex Heaven

Lockside Camden – Tex Mex Heaven

We love Camden, it’s always been one of our favourite spots to hang out.

LONDON TOWN HAS ALL THE VIBES

Camden Town

It’s both trendy and whimsical at the same time, offering something for everyone.

It has changed drastically over the last two decades.

Call it gentrification if you wish, because that’s what it is.

Some may hate it due to the ever-rising costs of living in the area.

Others welcome the change, as it provides people with more choices when searching for things to do and places to go.

Camden Town

Although Camden has never really been a place with little to do, that’s for sure.

It’s long been known as a melting-pot of cultures and flavours, along with vibrant events of all kinds happening every night of the week.

Pop-up food stalls and additional restaurants have now become ‘the norm’ here, serving a huge variety of delicious offerings from around the world.

One of those offerings is Lockside, a well established restaurant and bar along the waters edge.

LOCKSIDE

Located on the upper walkway inside the lock, it been open since 2005 and had a refurbishment in January of this year.

It’s comfortably spacious and provides customers with a large outside terrace, which is perfect for the warmer months.

Lockside Camden

Upon arrival we were greeted by director of operations and founder of the ‘Evil Twin‘ brand, Daniel Conchie.

Daniel was excited to indulge us in not only the new menu, but also his vision for Lockside going forward.

He’s charismatic, intelligent and full of beans for this re-brand.

A wooden serving board packed with a fabulous array of foods arrived mid-chat, and we were excited to see what was prepared especially for us.

A selection of mouthwatering dishes were presented, which included pork-belly tacos, siracha wings, jalapeño poppers and nachos smothered in cheese.

Lockside Camden - Tex Mex Heaven

We have to say, all of the food was absolutely fantastic.

We’re not just saying that because the chefs kept popping out and smiling, checking to see if we were happy either.

The quality of food and service provided was well worth the visit.

The vibe here is relaxed yet buzzing, and the food (plus wide selection of drinks) are three very good reasons to visit Lockside in Camden soon.

It seems that Pivaz Brentwood has already made it onto the map with the locals.
